If you returned to full time employment within one year of the termination of the leave of absence you may "buy-in" the time on leave of absence. In accordance with State statute, the purchase must be fully completed within five years of the date of the termination the Leave of Absence.
The cost of the Buy-In of the Leave of Absence is determined by the contributions you would have made and the contributions the Board of Education would have made to the Retirement System if you would have worked that time you were on Leave of Absence. Interest is charged on that amount for the period of time the Leave of Absence until this school year. This done, credit is given for this time on Leave of Absence
